Who We Are

Cadence is built by Web Cube Technologies, a software team based in the United States.

Our infrastructure is hosted on reputable US and international providers that meet strong security standards. We only collect the minimum data required for Cadence to work.

What We Collect (and Why)

Account Information

  • Name – Displays in your account and account-related emails
  • Email – Required for login. Also used to send one-time messages when your audio or task finishes processing
  • Google account info – Optional Google login (name, email, avatar only)

Content You Create

Cadence processes audio inputs and the text generated from them.

  • Recordings and transcripts – Needed to run voice commands, generate text, and sync across devices
  • Drafts, tasks, and settings – Stored so your workspace stays consistent on all devices
  • Temporary local data – Saved briefly in your browser or device storage to support autosave, undo, and quick recovery
  • Basic usage counts – Non-identifying stats for core functionality (no tracking, no fingerprints)

We may access your data only to help resolve technical issues, restore lost work, or assist during support cases. We never review content for analytics, ads, or model training.

Technical Information

  • IP address – Used briefly for fraud or abuse prevention, then discarded
  • Support messages – Only when you contact us
  • Crash reports – We collect technical error details to fix bugs and improve stability. This includes browser info, timestamps, and error messages. No recordings or transcripts are included.

How We Use Your Information

We use your data strictly to:

  • Create and maintain your account
  • Process recordings and generate content
  • Sync your data across devices
  • Handle billing and subscriptions
  • Respond to customer support requests
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Improve app stability and reliability

We do not use your personal data for advertising, tracking, or profiling.

Where Your Data Lives

We work with trusted service providers to process and store your data safely:

Core Infrastructure

  • DigitalOcean – Hosting app server and web app for paid users
  • Neon – Hosting PostgreSQL database
  • Backblaze – File storage, CDN delivery, encoding

Essential Services

  • Stripe – Billing, subscriptions, global tax compliance. Stripe independently processes payment data
  • Google OAuth – Optional login method requesting basic profile only

These providers use strict security controls and do not access your content unless required to operate their service.

Browser Extension (If You Use It)

The Cadence extension works with or without an account.

Free Users

  • All data stays on your device
  • No account required
  • No backend, no analytics, no tracking
  • If you connect to Google Drive, the token is used only when you choose to save a file

Paid Users

Paid plans unlock cloud features that require uploading:

  • Audio files for transcription
  • Text, tasks, and drafts for multi-device sync
  • Edits and session data are stored safely on our servers

All uploads follow the same privacy protections as the web app.

Free Trials

If you start a trial, Stripe securely stores basic details to prevent repeated trial abuse. This does not affect your privacy.

Google API Usage & Limited Use Disclosure

For Chrome Extension Users:

Cadence’s use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google Drive API

The Cadence browser extension uses the Google Drive API solely to enable users to save their screen recordings directly to their own Google Drive account.

What we do:

  • Request permission to access only files that Cadence creates or that you explicitly open with Cadence (using the `drive.file` scope)
  • Upload recordings to your Google Drive only when you explicitly choose the “Save to Google Drive” option
  • Store the OAuth access token locally on your device to enable future uploads without repeated authorization

What we don’t do:

  • We do not access, read, or modify any other files in your Google Drive
  • We do not share your Google Drive data with any third parties
  • We do not use your Google Drive data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose other than saving your recordings
  • We do not retain copies of your recordings on our servers when you choose to save directly to Google Drive
  • We do not sell or transfer your Google Drive data to data brokers, advertisers, or information resellers

Specific Google API Scope:

Google OAuth (Sign-In)

When you choose to sign in with Google (on the web app or extension), we only request access to:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your profile picture

This information is used solely for account creation and authentication. We do not request or access any other Google account data.

Your Control

You maintain full control over Google API access:

  • You can revoke Cadence’s access to your Google account at any time via your Google Account permissions page
  • Revoking access will disconnect Google Drive sync but will not delete your local recordings
  • You can use Cadence’s recording features without ever connecting to Google Drive
  • All recordings remain on your device unless you explicitly choose to upload them

Data Retention from Google APIs

  • Google Drive files: Stored in your Google Drive account under your control. We do not maintain separate copies.
  • Google OAuth tokens: Stored locally on your device and can be cleared by disconnecting your account or clearing browser data.
  • Profile information (name, email, avatar): Stored in our database while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

Cookies & Local Storage

We only use:

  • A session cookie to keep you logged in
  • Local device storage for drafts and temporary data
  • Essential billing cookies required by Stripe for fraud prevention

No tracking cookies. No marketing cookies. No device fingerprinting.

Website Analytics

We use a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics tool to measure simple page interactions like page views and device type.

We do not:

  • Use cookies for analytics
  • Store IP addresses long-term
  • Track or identify you
  • Share analytics data with outside companies

Your Privacy Rights (US)

Depending on your state of residence (California, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, Utah, and others as laws continue expanding), you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect
  • Request access to your data
  • Delete your data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request a copy of your data

  • Opt out of the sale of your data (we don’t sell data)

To use any of these rights, email us at privacy@usecadence.co with “Privacy Request” in the subject.

We will never treat you differently for exercising your rights.
